Our 75th Anniversary Sweepstakes Grand Prize winner chose $18,750 over a Giant Cow. That's a lotta moo-lah!

With just one quart of vanilla bean ice cream, Kimberly Karas hit it big. Real big. After registering a promotional code found on the lid, Karas learned that she was the grand prize winner in Turkey Hill Dairy's 75th Anniversary Sweepstakes and the proud new owner of one of the company's 13-foot-tall, two-ton fiberglass Giant Cows.

Given the choice between the burly bovine or the $18,750 cash equivalent, Karas chose the money.

"As tempting as it was to be the only family on our block with a giant cow lawn ornament, the money was too good to pass up," said Karas, who hopes use a portion of the winnings to fund an overseas vacation with her husband, Peter.

The Karas's were presented with their prize on Friday, May 4 when the Turkey Hill team visited the family at their home in Forest Hill, Md., about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore. The Giant Cow was on hand, making the trip on a trailer towed behind a Turkey Hill refrigerated truck full of ice cream. It is one of three specially-produced cows the 75-year-old Dairy uses at events throughout the Northeast.

As part of the grand prize package, the Karas's will also receive a Turkey Hill Ice Cream party, held later this summer, for their family and 100 friends.

The year-long Turkey Hill sweepstakes featured 75 authentic Lancaster County prizes designed to highlight the ice cream manufacturer's rural Pennsylvania roots. Other prizes awarded throughout 2006 and 2007 included a vintage farm truck, 75 quarts of chicken pot pie, seven-and-a-half tons of horse manure and an "Employee for a Day" position as an official Turkey Hill Ice Cream taster.

You can bet these folks are feeling the Lancaster County love.

As we find winners for each prize, we'll post the names of the lucky guys and gals with the prize. Yes, you should feel jealous so start playing now.
