LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (March 18, 2015) — James Curry hasn't been to a Steelers game since 1989. That 26-year drought is about to end in a big way for the Pittsburgh resident after he won a pair of Steelers season tickets as the winner of Turkey Hill's annual Blitzburgh Crunch Sweepstakes.
"I can't describe how amazing it feels. I'm looking forward to getting back into the stadium again," said the 64-year-old Curry, who's been a die-hard Steelers fan since he attended his first game back in 1959. "I haven't even begun thinking about who I'll take to the games with the extra ticket, but I'll let my friends and family fight it out to see who gets to go to those eight games with me!"
The last time Curry's family owned Steelers season tickets was 1972, when the team played in Three Rivers Stadium. Curry was on hand to witness Franco Harris' now legendary "immaculate reception" in the 1972 AFC Divisional playoff, but the family gave up the season tickets soon thereafter.
The Blitzburgh Crunch Sweepstakes, now in its sixth year, attracted more than 18,000 entries during the 2014-2015 season. In addition to the season tickets grand prize, 30 additional prizes were awarded, ranging from tickets to a Steelers home game to access to a private tailgating party and gift cards for Steelers merchandise.
Curry entered the contest using a code found on specially marked packages of Turkey Hill Dairy's Blitzburgh Crunch, which is the official ice cream of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Blitzburgh Crunch brings the Steelers' black and gold colors to life with vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate cake crunchies and a crunchy chocolate cookie swirl.
