LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (June 14, 2017) — Turkey Hill Dairy's Ultimate Flavor Tournament gave fans a voice to bring back one retired ice cream flavor. Now, after 13 weeks and more than 50,000 votes, the fans have spoken, and Caramel Brownie Overload will return after 17 years of retirement.
Caramel Brownie Overload features caramel ice cream with brownies and waves of rich caramel fudge. The flavor appeared in the Turkey Hill line-up for just one year — in 2000 — and faced off in the final round of the Ultimate Flavor Tournament against Peanut Butter Marshmallow.
Caramel Brownie Overload will appear on shelves in 2018 as a limited edition option.
The Ultimate Flavor Tournament began in March, with 32 retired flavors, including former favorites like Chocolate Cherry Cordial (1991–1995), Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (1996–2001), Pineapple Upside Down Cake (2005–2008), and Sticky Bun (1997–2000).
The Tournament marked the first time Turkey Hill has given fans a chance to choose a new ice cream flavor, a task normally reserved for the Dairy's research & development team.
